Traveling during the pandemic has created many new challenges for todays travelers. Following is some helpful information on traveling to Nassau, Mexico and Punta Cana for Spring Break 2022.

Bahamas

Breezes

                The Bahamas requires a Health Travel Visa for entry to the country. This can be purchased and filled out at travel.gov.bs. The cost is $40. A negative PCR test must be uploaded within 72 hours prior to arrival at the resort. If you are vaccinated, you may upload a negative rapid test within 72 hours prior to arrival in place of a PCR test. The resort will also verify this negative test at check-in.

To return to the United States, airlines will require a negative test uploaded within 24 hours prior to departure, as well as any vaccination information. If you have recovered from Covid within the last 90 days, you may obtain a note from a doctor for proof of recovery that will have to be accepted by the airline. Rapid tests will be available at the resort for the price of $35 and must be scheduled with a front desk agent. PCR tests are not available on resort. If you need to quarantine, the hotel may have rooms available and you can work through your Bahamas travel visa to cover this cost.

Cancun

                Mexico does not require proof of vaccination or negative testing to enter the country, unless otherwise stated by your airline. Having your proof of vaccination and negative testing is still recommended. To return to the United States, airlines will require a negative test uploaded within 24 hours prior to departure, as well as any vaccination information. If you have recovered from Covid within the last 90 days, you may obtain a note from a doctor for proof of recovery that will have to be accepted by the airline.

Grand Oasis

                Rapid tests will be available at the resort for $17 and PCR tests will be available at the resort for $75. These must be scheduled in the hotel lobby upon arrival. The hotel will be able to provide a room in the event you need to quarantine, the first 5 nights free, and any nights after that for $160 per night for a double room.

Hotel Riu Cancun

                The Riu hotels are offering free antigen testing on site, which should be scheduled with the front desk upon arrival. In the event you need to quarantine, the hotel is offering up to a 10 day extension of your stay for free.

Punta Cana

The Dominican Republic does not require negative testing to enter the country, unless otherwise stated by your airline. Most businesses will require proof of vaccination or a recent negative test in order to enter. To return to the United States, airlines will require a negative test uploaded within 24 hours prior to departure, as well as any vaccination information. If you have recovered from Covid within the last 90 days, you may obtain a note from a doctor for proof of recovery that will have to be accepted by the airline.

Occidental Caribe

Tests will be available at the resort by request, and should be set up at arrival in the business center. There will be PCR tests available for $90 and rapid tests available for $25. The hotel will offer rooms at a discounted rate in the event you need to quarantine.

Impressive Punta Cana

                The hotel will facilitate contact with testing centers that will provide Covid testing on site. Antigen tests will be around $30 and PCR tests will be around $225. There will also be a testing center off site, about 10 miles away that will offer PCR tests for $80.

Riu Republica

                The Riu hotels are offering free antigen testing on site, which should be scheduled with the front desk upon arrival. In the event you need to quarantine, the hotel is offering up to a 10 day extension of your stay for free.

Cabo

In 2017, Miami Beach voters overwhelmingly rejected a proposal to move last call from 5 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Ocean Drive. But at a recent meeting, the city’s police chief, Dan Oates, suggested closing area bars even earlier — at midnight — during the busiest two weeks of spring break.

“Turn off the music on Ocean Drive,” he said during the city commission’s FY 2020 budget retreat, according to RE: Miami Beach. “Shut the cafés, (midnight) last call for 15 days in March.”

The chief presented a plan calling for a major police presence similar to the “emergency” measures Miami Beach officials rolled out this year, when squads of officers patrolled the beach in riot gear. He said this would cost $2.6 million, in addition to the $1.1 million already budgeted for spring break.

If city officials convince visitors that Miami Beach is no longer fun, though, things might change. Oates acknowledged that the goal of turning off the music and rolling back last call is to “eventually make us less pleasant to come to.”

After another year in the books,there is no doubt Cancun Spring Break gets wilder and wilder each year. Take a glimpse into what you can expect for Cancun Spring Break with STS Travel.

Cancun Spring Break Resort

The Oasis Cancun is THE ultimate hotel for your Cancun Spring Break. I was there for all of March and got a pretty good handle on how to really get the most out of it! This all inclusive resort has everything you need to have a great vacation. Good looking Spring Breakers take over the resort for the entire month.

Starting when the sun rises, everyone descends into the pool area to start their morning off with a Michelada, a Bloody Mary with a Mexican twist, to keep their hangover away! The swim up pool bar bartenders expertly handle any drink request while you chill with your group and decide who gets AUX privileges. After a few hours in the sun, we head for a quick air conditioning break in Sports Bar and enjoy one (or a few) of their specialty Margaritas. If you feel like squeezing lunch in between, you can head to any of their lunch options. Choose from authentic pool side tacos, to fresh made pizza at Dos Lunas. Tacos were my favorite! Or if you can’t decide, the Buffet offers a little bit of everything.

We spend the rest of your afternoon partying at Oasis Beach Club. Claim a day bed, or just hop into one of their personal pools. This entertainment venue is only steps from the pool with incredible views of the beach and crystal blue waves. Everyday they host DJs, themed parties, and giveaways. Some of the most notable names that took the stage during this past Spring Break were Lil Jon, Jay Hardway, and Zara Larson. It is not uncommon to see Spring Breakers leaving the beach club covered in foam, colored chalk, or champagne.

Whether its our first meal of the day or your 15th, dinner is always a can’t miss at Oasis. You can’t go wrong at any of their 6 specialty restaurants, my favorite being Maki Taco. Their fried rice never gets old! Since its all inclusive, order as much as you need to satisfy your empty stomach. And since the days not over, we need dinner to fuel us for the rest of the night!

Cancun Spring Break Nightlife

After dinner, the resort calms down a tad as Spring Breakers head to their rooms to take a quick nap and get ready for the rest of the night. Things pick up again around 9:30 PM as a band starts to play by the pool and the bar is shaking up new pregame drinks. After sipping on a 4loko or two, its time to hit the town! The clubs open at 10 PM and stay open until the last Spring Breaker leaves. They are just a quick bus ride from the Oasis, which is basically the start of the party. The buses fill up with Spring Breakers and plays loud music that pumps you up for a wild night.

Make sure to wear your bathing suit because chances are, if you’ve had enough to drink, you’ll end up in one of their pools. Coco Bongo is unlike anything you’ve seen before. This Vegas style show has you entertained all night long with musical tributes and extravagant performances. Finally, Senor Frogs Glow Party gets wild with glow in the dark face paint, fun competitions on stage, and non stop beer pitchers!

Oasis Brings Back MTV Spring Break

During the third week of Cancun Spring Break, MTV took over the Oasis to shoot footage for their newly revived MTV Spring Break special. If getting a chance to be on TV wasn’t cool enough, stars like Jersey Shore’s Vinny, The Challenge’s Johnny Bananas, and Wild N’ Out’s Justina Valentine hosted an unforgettable week. Spring Breakers got free MTV Spring Break swag and enjoyed wild performances from Lil Baby, Rae Sremmurd, and Tyga at Oasis Beach Club. DJ Pauly D even put on a private performance for Oasis Spring Break guests one night.

What’s it like to be on Cabo Spring Break? Cabo San Lucas is the ultimate Spring Break destination. From the moment the plane lands and you see the clear blue water and the amazing mountainous landscape you’ll be in vacation mode. As soon as you retrieve your luggage and head out to your transportation, there are multiple places to grab a beer or margarita for your ride to the RIU Santa Fe.

Cabo Spring Break Resort

The RIU Santa Fe is the best all-inclusive resort you and your friends could stay at. Walk in to a huge, open lobby with a cart full of Welcome Drinks waiting for your arrival. After check-in and we head into the resort, we see multiple bars, pools, restaurants and nine buildings full of Spring Breakers. Everyone’s room is stocked with a full fridge of sodas, waters and mixers for the four full bottles of liquor (Vodka, Rum, Whiskey and Tequila) that are included in the hotel-stay. Yup you have a bar in your room!

During the day, we will find everyone at the infinity pools overlooking the famous Cabo Arch and bellied up at the swim up pool bar. They have music blaring all day. The RIU specializes in a great party scene. Their brand new Party Pool features different themed day and night parties throughout the week. You won’t want to miss their White, Jungle, Neon, or Pink parties. There is a DJ, dancers, foam, huge bar area and two pools for you to enjoy the parties at.

Once 5 PM rolls around, the Taco Man is cooking fresh tacos right outside the main dining hall and if you want to go to one of the restaurants instead, it is first come, first serve starting at 6 PM, no reservations needed.

At night, everyone is pre-gaming at the lobby bars and sports bar before heading out to downtown Cabo. Downtown Cabo is only a 10 minute Taxi or Uber ride and all of the bars/nightclubs are right next to each other. Squid Roe and Mandala are the top spots to be at depending on the scene you’re looking for. Squid Roe is three levels of bars, seating and dancing areas with good music playing all night long. Mandala has a classier vibe with disco balls, dancers and high-end VIP tables with bottle service. The other smaller bars/nightclubs around the downtown square are great places to be like La Vaquita, Abolengo, Senor Frogs and Crush. There is no cover at any of the downtown spots so you’re free to hop around to place to place.

Cabo Spring Break VIP Experience

When you arrive at the RIU Santa Fe for Cabo Spring Break, we will meet you to hand out your green wristbands. These wristbands give you access to STS VIP specials we have at the day bars and nightclubs. Start the afternoon off with 2 free margaritas at the Mango Deck from 12-pm – 2pm twice during your stay. This is a great daytime spot to drink, watch and/or participate in Spring Break themed competitions right by Medano Beach (the only beach you can swim in the Cabo water). At night, we have a drink special schedule for 1 free drink or shot that includes multiple bars throughout the downtown area. Finally, don’t miss our open bar party at Senor Frogs where they give you and fill up the fun souvenir cups all night, have drinking competitions and a DJ.

The Cabo Spring Break Sunset Booze Cruise is the highlight of the trip. We take a Taxi to the marina and board a double-decker boat with a full open bar, snacks, and dinner.  The top deck is where the bar and music are while the bottom deck is where they serve you an authentic Cabo meal. There are competitions to win a bottle of liquor while the DJ plays the best party music. The boat takes you out to the Cabo Arch and you float on the Sea of Cortez to watch the sunset before you start heading back into shore.
